Óbidos in 1 Day

A walled medieval town 80 km north of Lisbon: one street, nine stops, a single unhurried day on foot.

If you want to be transported back to Medieval times then come and spend the day in Óbidos. Plus it has one of my favourite back stories: for more than 500 years the town was a wedding gift that Portuguese kings would give to their queens.

This itinerary is designed as a day trip, but my recommendation would be to stay overnight so that you can really experience the walled town at leisure and go back, probably more than once, to the places you liked the most.

Don't forget to try the "ginjinha", a sweet cherry liqueur best drank from a chocolate cup!
